Travel Café Web Design | July 2020

I first started working with Travel Café as a Travel Agent in October of 2019. Great timing, right? For those unfamiliar, the COVID-19 Pandemic hit the United States with business shutdowns just a few months later across the nation.

At the travel agency, we began seeing this about February when clients began calling to cancel their upcoming trips. In March, we were directed to work from home and many of us, including myself, were furloughed. Fortunately, I had graphic and web design experience and was invited to stay on part-time once we received funding to provide that.

Without the assistance of contractors, we quickly redirected our marketing efforts to focus on travel TO Montana rather than international travel for Montana residents.

For this, I designed a series of web pages featuring luxury Montana Accommodations. I personally reached out to each of these resorts and established partnerships in an effort to sustain our part of travel in Montana.

Later that summer, we had received enough funding and saw a need to redesign our homepage. I was asked to provide feedback on this and was responsible for a few of the features that are used today, such as the section, “How to plan a stress-free trip in 3 simple steps.” I recognized an opportunity to explain what travel agents are for, how our process works, as I noticed many clients working with us for the first time.

We rebuilt our business with the approach of having an advocate at home while you’re traveling abroad. With so many changes in the travel business and in each individual area, this was essential if you were to travel during the Pandemic.

Homepage Banner

As part of updating packages, I also created content for and designed featured deals provided by our partner offers. These were featured primarily on our homepage banner as well as the “Hot Deals” section of the homepage.
