Logo and Poster Design | 8-Minute Speech Presentation

During my senior year of high school, I decided to join my school’s Business Professionals of America chapter on a whim. After joining, I discovered that one of the competitions was to design the next year’s National Leadership Conference for Business Professionals of America!

I spent hours and hours on this project–I had just gone to Boston recently and was so excited when I found out that’s where the next year’s conference would be held! I photoshopped an image I took on my cell phone at a Red Sox game for the background using a mix of the clone stamp tool and content aware.

This competition consisted of two parts: this final poster and an 8-minute speech presentation. My work took first place both at Regionals and State, and I competed at Nationals later that spring. I had plenty of time to memorize my speech and rehearsed it on my drives 2-3 times per day for about 8 weeks straight. I had it locked down–and then I choked at Nationals. We live and learn I suppose!
